LILLIAN OLIN was born on November 25th, 1924 in a camp on the Dulbi River, a tributary of the Koyukuk River north of Galena. She almost died at childbirth. Her mother was named Telsian from Kaltag and her father was Richard Pitka From Nulato. Lillian had 9 brothers and sisters all together. While she was growing up Lillian and her family lived a subsistence lifestyle, which usually meant travel to a different camp for the different seasons. Lillian met her husband Fred in 1937. She was married to him in 1948, and they had 3 children. During the 1990's Lillian worked at the Galena City School as a bilingual teacher and lives in Galena today.

The goal of Raven's Story is to record elders' stories, observations, and experiences relating to wildlife, fish, and subsistence in the Koyukuk and middle Yukon areas of interior Alaska. This Raven's Story was produced by Clinton Brown at public radio station KIYU-AM in Galena, Alaska, with the support of Louden Tribal Council and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
