The basic framework for each Project Jukebox program is the same, although each has its own personal variations based upon who worked on the project and their intended audiences. Each Jukebox has a variety of materials, from interviews to transcripts, maps, photos, or a searchable topic list. Each Jukebox program includes navigation instructions as you go along or it is self-explanatory with arrows and buttons. |
| A media player is necessary to play the mp3 audio files of these on-line programs. If you experience problems, please check our Help page or Contact us. |
Each project begins with a home page explaining the background information about the project and description of the historical / cultural material included in the Jukebox Project.
|
Each Jukebox has a central page, often referred to as the "Main Menu", with photos of the participants and buttons for access to other material, such as maps, slideshows, or a topics list. |
Click on an individual's picture or name to access their keyworded interview. Click on a highlighted topic sentence to hear that section of audio. To hear a full interview, play each section consecutively. In photo album jukeboxes, click on audio buttons or people's pictures to hear speakers discuss photos. |
Recordings can also be searched by keyword or topic. This gives instant access to sections of interviews where specific topics are mentioned. |
Some Jukeboxes contain transcripts. Click on the transcript button on the outline page to view them. In some cases, there is a direct link from the outline section to a transcript page for that section only. By clicking "Play Audio," you can listen to the audio while you scroll through the transcript. |
Certain Jukeboxes contain maps. Click on a number or camera icon on a map to hear an audio description, see a photo of a place, or hear the location's Native place name pronounced. |
Some Jukeboxes have links in the outline sections to photos or maps discussed during the interview. |
Video is new to our programs. In some cases, click on the person's picture on their outline page, and a short section of video plays. |
